Alright, so you wanna know what channel that there football game is on, huh? The NFL, that’s the big one, right? All them fellas runnin’ around, smashin’ into each other. My old man, he used to watch it, but me, I never really got it. Too much yellin’ for my taste.
But you want the channel, so let’s see. On that Dish thing, it ain’t just one channel, y’know. It’s like a whole mess of ’em. They got this channel 154, they call it the “NFL Network.” Sounds fancy, right? But it’s supposed to have all the games, or most of ’em, I reckon. Now, you gotta have them bigger packages, like the “Top 200” or the “Top 250.” Don’t ask me what that means, it’s just more money, I figure.

And then you got them other channels, the ones everybody knows. Like that ESPN, that’s a big one. And then there’s CBS, Fox, and NBC. They all show the games sometimes. It just depends on who’s playin’ and when. It’s a whole rigmarole, if you ask me.
Now, figuring out which channel is which, that’s the tricky part. See, they got different numbers dependin’ on where you live. Like that NBC, it could be channel 2, or it could be all the way up to 70. Makes no sense to me, but that’s how they do it. You gotta fiddle with that there remote, clickin’ through all them channels until you find it. It’s like lookin’ for a needle in a haystack, sometimes.
- NFL Network: Channel 154 (you need the bigger package)
- ESPN: Another one that shows games.
- CBS, Fox, NBC: They show games too, but the channel number changes dependin’ on where you live.
They also got this thing called SEC Network, channels 404 and 408. That’s somethin’ to do with college ball, I think. My grandson, he watches that sometimes. Yells just as much as my old man did for the NFL.
If you got that Fox channel, you can watch the games on your computer or your phone too, they say. Somethin’ about a “Fox Sports App” or their website. Sounds complicated, but the young folks, they seem to figure it out.
And there’s this other thing, “NFL+.” It’s another way to watch the games, but you gotta pay extra, I bet. They always want more money, don’t they? It’s supposed to get you the local games and the big-time ones, even when the season’s almost over.
So, long story short, there ain’t just one channel. You gotta look around. Start with that 154, then check ESPN, CBS, Fox, and NBC. And if you’re still lost, well, I guess you can call up that Dish company. But good luck gettin’ a real person on the phone. It’s all machines these days.

And another thing, if you got that Dish, you should be able to watch all them ESPN channels. They got a whole bunch of ’em, like ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, ESPNEWS and even one in Spanish, “ESPN Deportes.” They say it don’t cost nothin’ extra, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they snuck in a fee somewhere. They always do.
So there you have it. That’s about all I know about watchin’ them football games on that Dish thing. Hope it helps you find what you’re lookin’ for. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about football’s made me hungry.
