Why are them tennis shoes so darn expensive? I just don’t get it. I seen them shoes in the store, and my jaw dropped. Lord have mercy, the price is higher than a kite!

When I was a young gal, shoes didn’t cost an arm and a leg. We just wore what we had ’til they fell apart. We patched ’em up, sewed ’em back together. Didn’t matter if they were pretty. Shoes are shoes, right? They’re for walking. But now? Now these young folks, they want fancy tennis shoes.
The Price of Tennis Shoes is Crazy
It is like, these tennis shoes, they got to have the right name on ’em. It got to be “Nike” or some other brands. If it ain’t a brand, they don’t want it. And that brand name costs money, a lot of money. It is like they are made of gold or something. I just shake my head. It’s all about showing off. They’re paying for the name, not the shoe.

Expensive Tennis Shoes Are Just For Show
And they say these expensive tennis shoes are better, more comfortable. They say it has special stuff in it. I don’t know. These shoes got more padding, got more support. But are they really that much better? I doubt it. My old shoes, they served me just fine. We walked miles in ’em, worked in the fields.
They say these new tennis shoes are made better. Better materials, they say. Lighter, they say. I don’t know about all that. But I do know this, they cost a fortune. And for what? To walk around? To play some tennis? It is just like throwing money away if you ask me. It is like, the more expensive it is, the more they want it.
Why Do People Buy Expensive Tennis Shoes?
And the thing is, people are buying them. These young folks, they save up their money, just to buy a pair of these expensive tennis shoes. They work hard, just to spend it all on shoes. It don’t make sense to me. There are other things to spend money on. Like food, a roof over your head, you know?
They got all these fancy ads on TV, on the internet. Showing these tennis shoes, making them look so good. They show famous people wearing them, making people think they need them too. They say it’s a status symbol, whatever that means. It’s all about keeping up with the Joneses, I guess. And this marketing cost a lot of money.
Tennis Shoes Are Too Expensive Now

It’s a never-ending cycle. And who’s getting rich? The shoe companies, that’s who. They are just laughing all the way to the bank.
I tell you, it is a crazy world we’re living in. When a pair of tennis shoes costs more than a week’s worth of groceries. It is just not right. But what can you do? People are going to buy what they want to buy. Even if it means spending all their money on a pair of shoes. It is a shame, a crying shame. I just hope they don’t regret it later. These tennis shoes are just too darn expensive. It is just plain wrong, I tell ya.
It Is Just Tennis Shoes
I remember a time when folks were sensible about things. They knew the value of a dollar. They didn’t spend money on foolish things. They worked hard, saved their money, and bought things they needed. Not things they just wanted. But these days, it is all about wants, not needs. And that’s why these tennis shoes are so expensive. People want them, no matter the cost. They want to be cool. They want to fit in. But at what cost, I ask ya? At what cost?
I just hope one day, people will wake up and realize that expensive tennis shoes are not everything. That there are more important things in life than having the latest, most expensive shoes.
