Okay, so I was digging around the internet today, trying to settle a bet with a buddy about which NFL player has bounced around the league the most. We were throwing names back and forth, but nobody could remember for sure. So, I decided to get to the bottom of it.
Starting the Search
I started by, you know, just hitting up Google. I typed in something like “nfl player most teams” and hoped for the best. The first few results were kind of all over the place, with different lists and articles, some outdated.

Finding Some Good Data
After sifting through some junk, and some alright articles, I found some with actual stats. I figured that’s the way to go to find solid answers to the question I had.
Compiling My Own List
I made a note about every players mentioned on several pages, and I wrote down the number of teams near the name.
The “Winners” (If You Can Call Them That)
Turns out, there are a bunch of guys who’ve played for a ton of teams. But, get this, there are several players up there with the most of all time! These guys have practically lived out of a suitcase. I think I found my answers!
- Quarterback: I found some Quarterbacks who have played for many teams in NFL.
- Other Positions: It’s not just quarterbacks, though. I saw kickers, punters, and even a few linemen who’ve made the rounds. It’s kind of crazy.
What I Learned
It’s kind of wild to think about how many players have short stints with so many different teams. I guess it’s just the nature of the business, huh? Anyway, I won the bet, and I learned something new. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon!
