Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter online about when Fanatics will finally get around to making football cards. It’s been a big question, especially since they snagged the exclusive rights. I decided to dig in and see what I could find, and man, it was a bit of a rabbit hole.
My Little Research Journey
First, I started with the obvious – I just Googled it. You know, “when will Fanatics make football cards” and variations of that. I got a bunch of articles and forum posts, but nothing super concrete at first. Lots of speculation, some old news, and a few hints here and there.

Then, I spent some time poking around on some collector forums. These guys are serious about their cards, so I figured they’d have the inside scoop. I saw a lot of debates – people were definitely getting impatient! – but there were a few interesting tidbits.
I scoured a few more reliable sports news sites, the ones that usually have solid reporting. I was looking for any official announcements or press releases. It took a while, but I finally started to piece things together.
Putting the Pieces Together
- I confirmed that Fanatics did indeed get the exclusive licenses for NFL, NBA, and MLB trading cards. That was the big starting point.
- I found out that their NFL and NFLPA licenses don’t actually kick in until 2026. That’s the key piece of the puzzle!
- I learned they acquired Topps, which already had some deals in place, but those don’t change the 2026 timeline for the NFL.
- I also checked and double-checked some dates, just to make sure I wasn’t getting old info. It’s all about that 2026 date.
I remembered last checking the official Fanatics, but no annoucement there!
So, after all that digging, the short answer is 2026. That’s when we should finally start seeing Fanatics football cards. I know, I know, it feels like forever, but at least we have a solid date now. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for any updates, and I’ll be sure to share them when I find them!
