Man, I’ve been hearing a lot about this Riyadh Season Boxing thing lately, so I figured I’d dive in and see what all the fuss is about. Let me tell you, it’s been quite a ride!
First off, I started by just Googling “Riyadh Season Boxing” to get a general idea. Turns out, Riyadh Season is this huge entertainment thing they do in Saudi Arabia during the winter. They started it back in 2019, and it seems to be a mix of concerts, cultural events, and, of course, boxing.

Then, I dug a little deeper into the boxing side of things. It looks like they’re really trying to make a big splash in the boxing world. I found out that the event is promoted by a bunch of big names like Riyadh Season Card, Sela, League 1, and Matchroom Boxing. It seems like they are partnering with the big names like World of Boxing, TGB Promotions, Golden Boy.
What really caught my eye was this talk about them creating a “global boxing league.” I read something about a proposal to sign around 200 of the top male boxers, then split them into 12 weight classes, with about 15 fighters in each class. This seems like they are really building a huge league.
Also I found out that, Riyadh Season Latino Night is basically a big show put on by Golden Boy Promotions, which is run by the famous boxer Oscar De La Hoya. And the main event? It’s a big fight for the cruiserweight title with the WBA champ, Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez.
After collecting all of this information, I feel like I have a good handle on what Riyadh Season Boxing is all about. It’s Saudi Arabia’s way of getting into the boxing game in a major way, and it’s definitely got people talking. I’ll be keeping an eye on how this all unfolds, that’s for sure!
