Alright, so I’ve been diving deep into the world of Formula 1 lately, and I got totally sucked into this whole “most dominant cars” thing. It’s a rabbit hole, I tell ya! I wanted to figure out, once and for all, which F1 cars were truly the kings of their eras. So, here’s how I went about it, and what I found.
Step 1: The Obvious Starting Point
First, I hit up the usual suspects – you know, Google, Wikipedia, some F1 fan forums. Just to get a general feel for which cars kept popping up in conversations. This gave me a good list of contenders.

Step 2: Digging into the Numbers
Next, I knew I needed some cold, hard data. Wins, podiums, pole positions… the works. I spent hours poring over season statistics. It was a bit tedious, to be honest, but necessary to separate the legends from the just-really-good cars. I used a basic spreadsheet to keep track of it all, nothing fancy.
Step 3: Considering the Context
But it’s not just about the numbers, right? I realized I also needed to think about the context of each season. Were the rules changing a lot? Was the competition super fierce, or did one team just have a massive technological advantage? This is where things got a bit more subjective, and I relied on some expert opinions from articles and documentaries I found.
Step 4: The Eye Test
Then came the fun part – watching old races! I queued up classic races on YouTube and other F1 video archive, trying to get a feel for how these dominant cars actually looked on the track. Were they visibly faster? Did they seem to handle better? This was my “eye test” to complement the stats.
Step 5: My Personal Ranking
Finally, I put everything together. The stats, the context, the eye test… I created my own little ranking system, weighing different factors based on what I felt was most important for true dominance. It’s totally subjective, of course, but that’s part of the fun!
Step 6: Refine the List and Share it
I did all this for my own entertainment and for my own curiosity. I‘m sharing with you all is based on my own process and the things I learned along the way. Let me know what you think of my results!
My own result after all the work, I will show the list next time, stay tuned!
