So, I’ve been watching all these boxing videos, right? And I kept seeing this thing called the “Superman punch.” Looked kinda cool, I gotta admit, like something out of a movie. I mean, who wouldn’t want to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee, but with a little extra ‘oomph’ from a Superman-style leap?
So, I got curious. I thought, “Can I actually do this? Is this a real thing in boxing, or just some fancy move for show?” I did a little digging around, watched some more videos, read a few things. Turns out, it’s a legit move, but not exactly a common one. It’s more of an MMA thing, where you can use kicks and stuff, but it can be used in boxing too.

First, I tried just jumping and punching. Let me tell you, it’s way harder than it looks. My punches were all over the place, and I nearly fell over a couple of times. It felt really awkward, like trying to pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time, but way more complicated.
Then I remembered something about faking a kick first. The idea is to make your opponent think you’re going for a low attack, so they drop their guard. Then, BAM! You jump and hit them in the face. Sounds simple enough, but let me tell you, the coordination is a nightmare. I tried the fake kick, but I kept losing my balance, and I felt like I was moving in slow motion. It’s like my brain couldn’t keep up with what my body was supposed to be doing.
- Fake a kick: This was the first hurdle. My legs felt like lead, and I couldn’t get the movement right.
- Jump: I tried to jump, but it was more of a hop. I couldn’t get any real height or distance.
- Punch: When I did manage to get off the ground, my punches were weak and inaccurate. I was so focused on not falling that I couldn’t put any power behind them.
I practiced for days, trying to put it all together. I watched more videos, tried to copy what the pros were doing, but it just wasn’t clicking. I felt like a baby giraffe trying to take its first steps. I was wobbly, uncoordinated, and honestly, a little embarrassed. The other guys at the gym were giving me weird looks, and I could tell they were trying not to laugh.
Finally, it clicked
Then, one day, it finally clicked. I don’t know what happened, but it just felt… right. I faked the kick, jumped, and threw the punch, all in one smooth motion. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt powerful. I could feel the force of the punch through my entire body. It was like a light bulb went off in my head. I finally understood the mechanics of the move, how to shift my weight, how to generate power from the jump. I finally did it!
I’m still not great at it, I still can’t get it to be useful in a fight, but I can do it now. It’s a tough move to master, and it’s definitely not something you see every day in the boxing ring. But hey, it’s fun to practice, and it makes you feel like a superhero, even if it’s just for a second. So, if you’re feeling adventurous, give it a try. Just be prepared to look a little silly at first. But once you get it, man, it feels good!
