Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this boxin’ and that MMA stuff. Folks been arguin’ about which one’s more dangerous, like it really matters when you’re gettin’ your face beat in, right?
Is boxing more dangerous than MMA? That’s the big question everyone’s askin’. I seen some boxin’ matches on that there TV thingy, and let me tell ya, them boys get punched in the head A LOT. Hundreds of times in one fight, they say. That can’t be good for ya, can it?

Now, in that MMA stuff, they kick and wrestle and do all sorts of things. They still hit the head, but not as much, see? They got more places to hit, like the legs and the body. It’s like…well, it’s like choppin’ wood. You wouldn’t just hit the same spot over and over, would ya? You’d move around, make it easier.
- Head punches in boxing: Lots and lots!
- Head punches in MMA: Fewer, thank goodness.
- Other hits in MMA: Kicks, wrestlin’, all sorts of stuff.
They had this big fight a while back, that fella, McGregor, the MMA guy, fightin’ Mayweather, the boxer. Mayweather won, but it was a boxin’ match, so what did ya expect? It don’t really prove nothin’ ‘cept that boxers are good at boxin’, which we already knew.
Now, who hits harder? That’s a tough one. Boxers probably hit harder overall, pound for pound, they say. But them MMA fellas, they got them kicks and stuff, and that can do some damage too. It’s like gettin’ hit by a truck versus gettin’ hit by a car. Neither one’s good, but they hurt different.
I heard tell that boxin’ leads to more deaths and head injuries. That makes sense, seein’ as how they punch each other in the head all the time. Long-term damage, they call it. Like, you might be alright for a while, but then later on, you start forgettin’ things, or your head starts hurtin’ all the time. It’s like that time my cousin fell off the roof – he was fine at first, but then his back started givin’ him trouble years later.
MMA, they got more rules, they say. Safer rules. I don’t know about that. Seem pretty rough to me, all that wrestlin’ and kickin’. But maybe it is safer, ’cause they ain’t just beatin’ on each other’s heads the whole time.
Some folks say that bare-knuckle boxin’ is even worse, all them cuts and such. But then they say you don’t get concussions as much. It’s all a bunch of mumbo jumbo if you ask me. Fightin’ is fightin’, no matter how you slice it.

So, is boxin’ more dangerous? Maybe, maybe not. It’s like askin’ if a snake or a scorpion is more dangerous. Both can kill ya, just in different ways. But if I had to pick, I’d say boxin’ is probably worse for your head in the long run, all them punches. MMA, you might get a broken leg or somethin’, but at least your brain might be a little better off.
But then again, what do I know? I’m just an old lady who watches too much TV. But I ain’t stupid, I can see what’s what. And what I see is a whole lotta fellas gettin’ hurt for our entertainment. It’s a shame, really, but that’s the way of the world, I guess.
Anyways, that’s my two cents on this whole boxin’ and MMA thing. You take it or leave it. Just remember, fightin’ ain’t the answer, unless you’re gettin’ paid a whole lotta money for it. And even then, it might not be worth it in the end.
