Well, let me tell ya, some folks been sayin’ boxin’ is dead. Is it? I don’t think so. It’s like an old mule, maybe a bit tired, but still kickin’.
Is boxing really dead? Nah, it ain’t dead. People still watch it, even if it ain’t as big as it used to be. Back in the day, everyone listened to the fights on the radio, then they watched ‘em on TV. Now, you got all sorts of things to watch, like that cage fightin’ stuff, what do they call it? MMA? Yeah, that thing.

- Boxing is still around, see. They still got fights on TV, even if you gotta pay extra to watch ‘em sometimes.
- And them young fellas, they still wanna learn how to box. Keeps ‘em outta trouble, mostly.
But things ain’t like they used to be. Too many weight classes, they say. Too many fellas claimin’ to be champion. It’s all a bit confusing, if you ask me. And the money, well, that’s a whole ‘nother story. Some folks makin’ millions, others barely scrapin’ by. Just like farmin’, I guess.
Some say boxin’ is corrupt. I don’t know about that. But I do know that sometimes, things don’t seem fair. You see a fella win a fight, but the judges say he lost. Makes you scratch your head, it does.
MMA, that’s the big thing now. Those fellas, they punch and kick and wrestle, all in one go. It’s somethin’ to watch, alright. But boxin’, it’s different. It’s about skill, about footwork, about landin’ that one good punch. It’s about guts and heart. Not as flashy as them MMA fellers, but it takes a special kinda person to step in that ring.
Why people still watch boxing? Some folks still love a good ol’ fashioned boxing match. It’s somethin’ simple, ya know? Two fellas, dukin’ it out. No fancy moves, just straight up fightin’. And there’s still some good fighters out there. They ain’t household names like they used to be, but they’re there. You just gotta look a little harder.
They say boxin’ is too dangerous. Well, life’s dangerous, ain’t it? You can get hurt doin’ anything. Fell off my porch last year, broke my arm. Wasn’t boxin’, but it still hurt like heck.
Boxing’s been around a long time, longer than most of us been alive. It’s had its ups and downs, just like everything else. It ain’t dead yet, but it needs a bit of a kick in the pants, maybe. Get rid of some of them extra weight classes, make it easier for folks to understand. And maybe pay the fighters a bit more, so they don’t have to worry about puttin’ food on the table.

Boxing compared to other sports, well, it ain’t baseball, that’s for sure. And it ain’t football, where them fellas run around like crazy. It’s its own thing. A bit rough around the edges, maybe, but that’s part of its charm.
So, is boxing dead? Naw, it’s just takin’ a breather. It’ll be back, stronger than ever. You just wait and see. Like a good ol’ rooster, it might get knocked down, but it’ll get back up crowin’!
The future of boxing is up to them young fellas. If they keep fightin’, keep trainin’, keep believin’, then boxin’ will be just fine. It’s like plantin’ seeds, ya gotta nurture ‘em, take care of ‘em, and they’ll grow. Same with boxin’. It needs a little bit of love, a little bit of care, and it’ll be alright.
And another thing, them TV folks, they need to show more fights. Not just the big ones, but the small ones too. Let people see the up-and-comers, the ones who are hungry, the ones who are fightin’ for somethin’ more than just money.
So, there ya have it. My two cents on this whole boxin’ thing. It ain’t dead, just need a little fixin’ up. Like an old tractor, you gotta keep tinker with it, keep it runnin’. And boxin’, well, it’s worth keepin’ around.
