Well, let me tell you about this De La Salle football. They were somethin’ else, I tell ya. They just kept winnin’ and winnin’. Nobody could beat ’em.
De La Salle Football Streak
Back in my day, we didn’t have much, but we sure loved our football. And this De La Salle, they were the talk of the town, the whole country even. They had this streak, ya see. A winnin’ streak. Longest one ever, they said. Went on for years. From 1992 to 2004 they just couldn’t lose.

This was a big deal, you know. 151 games they won, in a row! Can you believe that? 151 games! We used to gather ’round and listen to the scores, and every time, it was De La Salle on top.
They called it “The Streak.” Even made movies and wrote books about it. They were like those big movie stars, but for football. Everyone was talkin’ about it. That De La Salle football streak was the longest in history, any sport they say.
Bob Ladouceur and De La Salle
- This coach they had, name was Bob. Bob Ladouceur, they called him.
- Started coachin’ there in ’79, real young fella.
- Didn’t know much about teachin’ or coachin’ those boys, but he sure knew how to win.
This Bob, he was somethin’. He turned those boys into winners. Taught ’em somethin’ special. They were unstoppable, like a runaway train. You just knew when they stepped on that field, they were gonna win. They were just that good, like a well-oiled machine.
They were a private Catholic high school, this De La Salle. Located in Concord, some place in California. Don’t know much about California, but they sure know football there. For more than thirty years they dominated the game, winning game after game.
De La Salle’s 151-Game Win Streak
Now, this streak they had, it wasn’t easy. Teams tried their best to beat ’em. Gave it their all. But De La Salle, they just kept comin’. Stronger and stronger.
It was like a story from one of those old books. David and Goliath, ‘cept De La Salle was Goliath, and they just kept winnin’. Nobody could touch ’em. They beat some team called College Park in 1997, broke some old record by a lot, they did.

From 1991 to 2021, they didn’t lose to any team in Northern California. They were that good, you see. Everyone was scared of them, those De La Salle boys.
The End of the Streak
But, you know, nothin’ lasts forever. Even good things come to an end. One day, September 4, 2004, it was a Saturday I think, this team from Bellevue, Washington, came to town. And they did what no one else could do. They beat them. They were playin’ in Washington, a long way from home.
It was a sad day, I reckon. Like the end of an era. De La Salle’s streak was over. 12 years of winnin’, gone just like that. They lost that game, and everyone was shocked. Nobody could believe it. It was all over the news, I tell ya. The whole country was talkin’ about it.
De La Salle’s Legacy
But, you know what? Even though they lost that one game, what they did, those De La Salle boys and that coach Bob, it was somethin’ special.
They showed everyone what hard work and dedication can do. They showed the world that anything is possible. De La Salle football will always be remembered for that streak, even now people are still talking about it.
That’s the story of the De La Salle football streak. It was somethin’ to behold, I tell ya. Somethin’ we won’t ever forget. That was one heck of a run they had, it’s a story for the ages. And that Bob Ladouceur, he was a heck of a coach. They don’t make ’em like that anymore.
