Alright, let’s talk about them football stadiums with roofs, you know, the dome ones. I heard some folks call ’em domes, some say they just got roofs. Whatever you call ’em, they keep the rain and snow off your head when you’re watchin’ the game, which is mighty nice, I tell ya.
Now, I ain’t been to all these places myself, mind you. But I hear tell there’s a bunch of ’em. Someone told me, maybe on that there TV, that out of all them NFL stadiums, like, 30 or somethin’, well, about 10 of ’em got some kind of roof. And get this, five of them roofs can open and close! Like a big ol’ garage door, I reckon.

One fella was yappin’ about this place in Texas, Houston, they call it. NRG Stadium, that’s the name. Sounded fancy. Said it cost a whole heap of money to build, millions and millions! They finished it up in 2002, and it was the first one of them football places to have a roof that could open and close. Holds a whole lotta people too, over 70,000! That’s more folks than I seen in my whole life, I betcha.
Then there’s this other one, out in Las Vegas. Allegiant Stadium, they call it. Near all them casinos and bright lights, I guess. The Raiders play there, whoever they are. Brand new place, finished up in 2020. Keeps you nice and comfy inside, warm in the winter, cool in the summer, they say.
- And don’t forget that big one in Dallas. AT&T Stadium, it’s called. Built a while back, in 2009 I think. Big as all outdoors, probably.
- Then there’s State Farm Stadium out in Arizona, where them Cardinals play. Another one with a roof, I’m told. Out in some place called Glendale.
So, how many of these roofed stadiums are there in total? Well, someone said there’s 11 of ’em now. That’s a lot of places to watch football without gettin’ rained on.
Now, they got all sorts of these football stadiums, old and new. Some of them been around forever, like that Soldier Field place in Chicago. Been there since 1924, can you believe it? But that one don’t have a roof, I don’t think. They was talkin’ about a map too, showin’ where all the football teams play. Thirty-two of ’em, they said. And some of them teams, they even share a stadium, like them Giants and Jets in New York. MetLife Stadium, that’s the one they use.
Anyways, that’s the gist of it. A bunch of them football stadiums got roofs, some open, some don’t. Keeps the weather out and the fans happy, I suppose. Good for them, I say. Now, where’s that sweet tea I made?
It’s a lot of stadiums to keep track of, if you ask me. But if you’re goin’ to a game, it’s good to know if you need a raincoat or not. These dome stadiums, they take care of that for ya. And that’s all there is to it, I reckon.
