Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this sports betting app called PrizePicks lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. I’m mostly into NBA games, so that’s what I’ve been focusing on. The other day, I saw this thing called a “reboot,” and I was like, “What the heck is that?” So, I started digging around to figure it out.
First, I just started making some picks, you know, the usual – will this player score more or less than this many points, will they get more or less than that many rebounds, etc. I made a few lineups, some with two players, some with six, just to see how it all worked. I noticed that sometimes, my lineup would change, or even get canceled. I was like, “What’s going on?”

Then I found out about this “reboot” thing. Apparently, it’s like a safety net. For example, say I picked a player to score more than 20 points. If that guy got injured in the first half and didn’t come back, my pick would get “rebooted.” This means my lineup would change, or if i choose to pick less and the player not coming back it would be a win for me. Like, if I had a 6-player lineup, it would drop down to a 5-player one. I thought that was pretty cool, kind of like insurance, you know?
I also learned that there are a few other reasons why a lineup might get canceled. Like, if enough players in your lineup are marked as “Did Not Play” (DNP), or if you end up with only players from the same team, they’ll just cancel the whole thing and refund your money. Makes sense, I guess. It’s all about making sure the lineups are legit.
Here’s what I figured out about reboots:
- It’s basically injury protection: If a player you picked gets hurt early in the game and doesn’t return, your pick gets rebooted.
- It adjusts your lineup: A 6-player lineup becomes a 5-player one, a 5-player becomes a 4-player, and so on.
- It can be a win: If you picked a player to perform “less” and they get injured early, you automatically win that pick.
So, that’s the gist of what I learned about reboots on PrizePicks. It’s a pretty neat feature, especially if you’re like me and don’t want to lose your money because of some bad luck with injuries. I’m still learning the ropes, but I’m getting the hang of it. It’s definitely made betting on NBA games a little more interesting!
