Okay, so, I’ve been a huge NBA 2K fan for years. I always buy the newest game and play with my friends. But this year, things got a bit tricky. My buddies and I, we’re all on different consoles. Some of us rock the PlayStation 5, others are on Xbox Series X/S. I even know a guy who’s still on PC. So, when NBA 2K24 came out, the big question was: can we finally play together?
I dove into the internet, searching everywhere. Forums, official websites, you name it. Turns out, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Here’s what I found out:

NBA 2K24 does have crossplay, BUT…
- It’s only between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. So, if you’re on these consoles, you’re in luck! You can team up or go head-to-head no matter what.
- PC and Nintendo Switch players are left out. Yeah, it sucks. If you were hoping to play with your friends on these platforms, no dice. I don’t know, 2K Games just decided that.
My Experience
So, I grabbed my PS5, and my friend with an Xbox Series X tried it out. We hopped into a quick play match, and boom! It worked like a charm. No lag, no issues. We played a few games, trash-talked a bit, the usual. It was awesome to finally play together without needing the same console.
But then, my other friend, the one on PC, he couldn’t join us. We tried everything, but nope, it just wasn’t possible. It was a bummer, really. We ended up having to take turns playing with him, which wasn’t ideal.
So, yeah, crossplay in NBA 2K24 is a thing, but it’s not perfect. If you’re on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, you’re golden. But if you’re on PC or Switch, you’re out of luck for now. Hopefully, 2K Games will expand crossplay to include all platforms in the future. But for now, we’ll just have to make do with what we’ve got. I called customer service, but they said they don’t know either. What a joke!
