Well, let me tell you about this thing, this “little league” in Delaware. I don’t rightly know what it is, but my grandson, he’s all worked up about it. Says it’s baseball for young’uns. Baseball? Now, back in my day, we just played in the fields, no fancy leagues or nothin’. But these kids nowadays, they got all sorts of organized things.
So, this Delaware place, I hear it’s got a bunch of these leagues. Canal Little League, Newark National Little League, all sorts of names. They got a P.O. box and an email, fancy stuff. My grandson, he says they got teams and uniforms and all. I reckon it’s serious business for these young fellas.

- They got rules, too. No sliding head-first, they say. Sounds dangerous to me anyway, sliding around like that. But I guess they gotta keep the kids safe.
- And they got this Williamsport place, Pennsylvania, where it all started. Some fella named Carl Stotz, he thought it up. Good for him, giving the kids something to do. Keeps ’em outta trouble, I say.
Now, about this Delaware league, they got boundaries and all. Westshore, Leona Street, Old Tampa Bay, Kennedy Boulevard… sounds like a mess of directions to me. But I suppose they gotta know where the kids come from, right? My grandson, he lives just inside the line, lucky fella.
This baseball thing, it’s a big deal for these kids. My grandson, he practices all the time, throwing and hitting. Says he wants to be the best. Well, I told him, “You work hard and do your best, that’s all you can do.”
I don’t understand all the rules and regulations, but I see the excitement in my grandson’s eyes. It’s more than just a game to him. It’s about being part of a team, learning new things, and having fun. And I guess that’s what matters most.
So, this little league in Delaware, it’s a good thing for the kids. Gives ’em something to do, teaches ’em about teamwork and sportsmanship. And who knows, maybe one of them will make it big someday. My grandson, he dreams of playing in the big leagues. Well, I say, dream big, boy, dream big.
It’s a changing world, ain’t it? Back in my day, we didn’t have such things. But times are different now. And if this little league keeps the kids happy and healthy, then I’m all for it. Let ’em play ball, I say, let ’em play ball.
I might even go watch a game sometime, see what all the fuss is about. My grandson would like that, I reckon. And who knows, maybe I’ll even learn a thing or two about this baseball game. It’s never too late to learn, right?

So, there you have it, my thoughts on this little league in Delaware. It’s a good thing, a real good thing. Keeps the kids busy, teaches ’em important lessons, and gives ’em something to be proud of. And that’s more than you can say for a lot of things these days.
