Alright, so I gotta tell you guys about how I finally figured out how to watch the Tigers play ball this year. It’s 2024, and let me tell you, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.
First off, I did a bunch of searching online, you know, just Googling around to see what my options were. I found out that most of the Tigers’ games are on Bally Sports Detroit. Okay, cool. But here’s the kicker – I didn’t have regular cable TV.

So, I started looking into streaming services. Turns out, Fubo is a pretty solid choice because they carry Bally Sports Detroit. I signed up for their trial, and boom, I was watching the Tigers live! It was pretty awesome to catch the game without needing a cable subscription.
But I didn’t stop there. I also checked out YouTube TV. They’ve got a ton of channels, like ESPN, Fox, FS1, and TBS. But, no MLB Network, which was kind of a bummer. Still, they offer unlimited cloud DVR, which is super handy for recording games. I gave their trial a shot, too, just to compare.
Here’s what I tested with YouTube TV:
- Recorded a couple of games to see how the DVR worked.
- Watched some live games to check out the streaming quality.
- Browsed through their channel lineup to see what else they offered.
Then, I also heard about Hulu + Live TV. They were another option I looked into, since they also have some live sports channels. I did a quick check to see what they carried, but ultimately, I was already pretty happy with Fubo and YouTube TV.
Oh, and I almost forgot – there’s also *. But from what I gathered, it’s more for watching out-of-market games, so it wasn’t exactly what I needed for the Tigers.
My Personal Setup:
- Primary: Fubo (for Bally Sports Detroit)
- Backup: YouTube TV (for the DVR and other channels)
So yeah, that’s how I ended up being able to watch the Tigers this season. It took a bit of digging and trying out different things, but now I’m all set. Hopefully, this helps some of you out there who are also trying to catch the games!
