Alright, guys, so I finally figured out how to properly pin in WWE 2K23 on my PS4, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a journey. So, I wanted to share my experience, hopefully, it’ll save you some time and frustration.
The Struggle Was Real
At first, I thought I had it down. I mean, I’ve played wrestling games before, right? But for some reason, I kept getting reversed or the ref would be super slow with the count. I was getting pinned more than I was doing the pinning! It was embarrassing.
Experimentation Time
So, I started messing around. First thing I did was go back to the basics. I re-read the in-game controls, even though I thought I knew them already. Turns out, timing is EVERYTHING.
- Wear ‘Em Down: You gotta beat your opponent down. Don’t even think about going for a pin early in the match unless you’ve hit a major signature move or finisher. I focused on using strong strikes, grapples, and wearing down specific body parts.
- The Kick Out Mini-Game: This is where I was messing up big time. You need to time your button press (X on PS4) when the meter hits the red zone. At the start of the match, this zone is larger and after heavy damage, the zone to get out becomes smaller. It is not about button mashing.
- Positioning is Key: Make sure your opponent is flat on their back. If they’re on their side or stomach, the pin is way less effective. I started using moves that specifically ended with my opponent flat on their back.
- Stamina Matters: If your wrestler is exhausted, it’s going to be harder to kick out, and it might be easier to pin them. Keep an eye on your stamina bar and make sure you’re not gassed when you go for the pin.
- Pin Combos:Some moves naturally transition into a pin attempt. This is golden! Learn those moves (the game tells you which ones do this) and use them.
- After certain grapple moves, you can immediately press R2 + Down on the right stick, to attempt to pin the enemy, rather than needing to reposition yourself.
- Opponent’s Health:Obviously, the lower their health, the easier the pin. Look for the red in their health bar.
Putting It All Together
Once I started focusing on all of that, it became SO much easier. I started winning matches by pinfall consistently. No more getting reversed all the time! Remember, it’s not just about pressing the button, it’s about the setup, the timing, and understanding the game mechanics.
So, there you have it. My not-so-graceful journey to figuring out pins in WWE 2K23. Hope this helps you out!
