Okay, so I wanted to get better at Wii Tennis, specifically my serves. I’ve always been kinda mediocre, and I figured there had to be a way to crank up the speed. Here’s what I did.
Experimenting with Swings
First, I just messed around. I tried different swings – big, loopy ones, short, choppy ones, everything I could think of. I paid attention to the timing, too. Hitting the ball at the very top of the toss seemed important, but it wasn’t the whole story.

The “Aha!” Moment
Then, I noticed something. When I swung the Wiimote really fast, like I was whipping a towel, the serves got way faster. But it was inconsistent. Sometimes I’d shank it, or it’d go out. I needed to figure out how to control that power.
Practice, Practice, Practice
- I spent a good hour just practicing serves. No games, just serves.
- I focused on that quick, whipping motion.
- I started with a gentle toss, to make sure I could hit the ball cleanly.
- Then, I gradually increased the toss height, still trying to hit it at the peak with that fast swing.
Getting it Down
It took a while, but I finally started to get the hang of it. The key, I realized, was the wrist snap. It wasn’t just about swinging my whole arm fast; it was about that final, quick flick of the wrist right as I made contact with the ball.
The Results
Now, my serves are noticeably faster. They’re not always perfect, but I can consistently get those high-speed ones that are tough to return. I still need to work on my accuracy, but I’m definitely making progress. I’ve been winning more matches, too, which is always a plus!
