Playing quarterback is like being the big boss on the field. You’re the guy with the ball almost every time, making things happen.
So, I got into this thing called the “Two Knees Drill.” It’s like a little warm-up dance you do on your knees. I started doing this thing every day, and man, it got my arms and shoulders all loosened up. It was a simple thing, but it made a huge difference.

Then there’s this whole idea about getting stronger, more explosive, and faster. I read some study from like 2015 about it. Started lifting weights, focusing on my legs with squats and lunges. And for the core, I did planks and threw medicine balls around. It was tough, but I could feel myself getting stronger. I tried to get stronger, and I did. I tried hard, and I really made it.
Footwork is a big deal too. If you’re a righty, you gotta keep your right foot back, and if you’re a lefty, it’s the other way around. I practiced shifting my weight to my back foot so I could step forward real quick when throwing. It took some time to get used to, but it made my throws way smoother.
Getting Explosive
- Power Cleans: I started doing these power cleans, which are basically lifting a barbell from the ground to your shoulders in one quick move. It’s all about explosive power.
- Box Jumps: Box jumps were next. I’d jump onto a box and then step back down. It sounds simple, but it’s a killer for building that explosive leg power.
I mixed all these things into my routine – the drills, the strength training, the explosive stuff, and even some speed work. It wasn’t easy. There were days when I was sore and tired, but I kept at it.
Slowly but surely, I started seeing changes. My throws got stronger and more accurate. I could move quicker and handle the pressure better. It was like everything started clicking together.
Being a quarterback isn’t just about having a strong arm. It’s about being tough, smart, and always ready to lead. Through all this practice and hard work, I think I’ve gotten a lot closer to being the best quarterback I can be. And I’m not stopping here – there’s always more to learn and improve on.
