Okay, so I was watching an NBA game the other day, and I got to thinking, “Man, it would be cool to watch a game from one of those fancy suites.” So, like anyone with too much time on their hands, I decided to find out just how much it costs to rent one of those bad boys. Let me tell you, it’s a wild ride.
First off, I hit up my good friend, the internet, and started searching. I typed in a bunch of stuff like, “how much is an NBA suite” and “NBA suite rental prices.” The results were all over the place. Some places said a few thousand dollars, others were talking tens of thousands! It was clear I needed to dig deeper.

So I went straight to the source. I started checking out the websites of different NBA teams, looking for their suite rental information. The thing is, most teams don’t just list their prices online. You gotta call them up or send an email to get a quote. It’s like they’re running some kind of secret society or something. Anyway, I started making calls.
- I called up the Lakers first, figuring they’d be expensive since they are, you know, the Lakers. The guy on the phone was super nice, but he told me that the price depends on a bunch of stuff: which game you want to see, the size of the suite, and even the day of the week. He threw out some numbers, and let’s just say I could buy a decent used car for the price of one of those suites.
- Next, I tried a smaller market team, thinking maybe they’d be cheaper. I called the folks over at the Thunder, and they gave me a similar story. Lots of factors go into the price. But, they were a bit more upfront about the range. Still, it was more than I was expecting.
After a few more calls, I started to get the picture. Renting an NBA suite is not cheap. It’s definitely a luxury experience. I mean, we’re talking about private seating, fancy food, maybe even a dedicated server. It’s a whole different world up there in those suites.
I did come across something interesting, though. Some websites were like some kind of trading place for individual game suites. There were people selling and trading cards and stuff, and others reselling suite tickets. One site was mentioned, “CodePlex,” which sounded like some kind of secret code word. And another was about binary format, what is that, computer language?
I even found some sites talking about the “UrlDecode” turning “%2b” into a “+”. I guess it’s something to do with how they handle website addresses. It’s all too technical for me, but hey, I learned something new.
So, what did I learn from this whole adventure? Well, first off, I learned that renting an NBA suite is way out of my price range. But, more importantly, I learned that there’s a whole world of information out there if you’re willing to dig for it. It’s like being a detective, following clues and piecing together the puzzle. But, also it’s like trying to learn “how much protein do you need to build muscle?”. Everyone is telling you different things.
I still haven’t watched a game from a suite, but hey, maybe one day. Until then, I’ll be happy with my regular seats and my overpriced arena snacks. At least the view of the game is still pretty good from down there. Even if I gotta put up with that one guy who keeps yelling at the refs.
