Okay, so, the other day I was thinking about getting a boxing ring. Yeah, you heard that right, a boxing ring! I’ve always been a bit of a boxing fan, and I thought, “Why not?” I mean, how cool would it be to have your own ring to spar in? So, I jumped down this rabbit hole of figuring out how much these things actually cost.
First, I started with a simple search. Just typed in “boxing ring price” or something like that. I found a bunch of different websites and, let me tell you, the prices were all over the place. It’s like, one site says a basic ring is like $5,000, and another one is like $15,000 for basically the same thing. It was pretty confusing.

Then, I started to dig a little deeper. I realized there are different types of rings. There’s like these portable ones, which are obviously cheaper. They are between $200 and $500. The standard ones cost more and the price range is from $1,000 to $3,000. I even saw some for like ten grand or more. It depends on the quality and size of the ring. It was crazy! And that’s not even counting if you want to add all the fancy stuff like special lights or a sound system. That would obviously jack up the price even more.
After that, I started looking at used rings, thinking maybe I could snag a deal. But honestly, that seemed like a whole other headache. You gotta worry about the condition, hidden damages, and all that. It just seemed like too much of a risk. Then I even had this thought of building one myself! I know, I know, it sounds nuts, but there are actually some tutorials online.
I stumbled upon a forum where this guy said he built one for around $1,200. Apparently, it took him and two other people three days to build it. They got a 20ft deck with 16x16ft inside the ropes. It’s not padded, but the 1/2″ plywood is good enough.
So, what did I learn from all this? Well, getting a boxing ring isn’t as simple as I thought.
- One: There’s a huge range in prices depending on what you’re looking for.
- Two: It’s probably going to cost more than you think.
- Three: Building one yourself is an option, but it’s definitely not for the faint of heart.
I’m still kind of on the fence about the whole thing. But hey, at least now I know what I’m getting into, right? It’s definitely something to think about. And maybe I’ll just stick to watching boxing on TV for now.
