Alright, so you wanna know how much them NBA trainers fellas make, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t peanuts, but it ain’t all millions either. It’s a good chunk of change, though, that’s for sure.
I heard tell some folks sayin’ on the internet, and them TV fellas too, that these trainers fellas, the ones that keep them basketball players runnin’ and jumpin’, they make a pretty penny. Now, don’t go quotin’ me on the exact numbers, ’cause I ain’t no fancy accountant or nothin’, but I’ve heard some figures tossed around.

Some places, like that Glassdoor thingamajig, they say the average is somewhere around $62,600 a year. That’s a good livin’, ain’t it? Better than scratchin’ in the dirt, that’s for sure. But see, that’s just the middle ground. Some folks make less, maybe around $47,000 starting out, and some, the real experienced ones, they can pull in over $86,000, even $100,000 or more! Imagine that!
- Now, that ain’t the end of the story, though. I hear tell there’s different kinds of trainers.
- You got your regular trainers, and then you got your head trainers, the fellas in charge.
- And I reckon the head trainers, they make a bit more. Makes sense, don’t it? More responsibility and all that.
I saw somethin’ else too, said somethin’ about the NBA itself payin’ trainers. They reckon the pay is somewhere between $46,000 and $84,000 a year. That’s the total pay, they say, with the regular salary and some extra stuff, like bonuses maybe. And the regular salary, they say it’s around $55,000 on average. That’s a nice chunk of change, ya know, for keepin’ them fellas healthy.
And get this, some basketball trainers across the country, not just in the NBA, they make around $52,000 a year on average. That was as of November 1st of this year, or so they say. It all depends on who you’re workin’ for and how long you been doin’ it, I guess.
The big money, though, that’s for the experienced folks. The ones that been around the block, know all the tricks, and can keep them star players on the court. Them fellas, they can make upwards of $78,000 a year. And like I said, there’s fellas makin’ way more than that. The top dogs, the head trainers for big teams, they might make a whole lot more, especially if they’ve been with a team for a long time.
I heard about this fella, Gary Vitti, he was the head trainer for the Lakers for a long, long time, from 1984 to 2016. That’s a heap of years! I bet he made a pretty penny. I saw somewhere that even now, the Lakers’ head trainer fella makes around $62,173 a year, on average. See? It pays to stick around and know your stuff.
So, there ya have it. It ain’t a simple answer, is it? But it’s good money, that’s for sure. You gotta know what you’re doin’, gotta be good at it, and gotta work hard. But if you can do all that, you can make a good livin’ keepin’ them basketball fellas in tip-top shape.

It ain’t just about the money, though. It’s a tough job. Lots of travelin’, lots of hours, and lots of pressure to keep them players healthy. But if you love basketball and you’re good at fixin’ folks up, it might just be the job for you. Just remember, you gotta start somewhere, and work your way up. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll be one of them fellas makin’ the big bucks.
