Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this tennis chain I got, and it was driving me nuts. It just wouldn’t lay flat! Kept flipping and twisting. Ugh. So, I did what anyone would do – I went down a rabbit hole of trying to fix it.
First, I saw this TikTok from some jewelry account, they were talking about how to clasp it right. Apparently, that’s a thing. I tried to pay attention to how I was putting it on and taking it off. I started clasping it carefully, making sure it wasn’t twisted from the get-go. It helped a little, but it wasn’t perfect.
Then I thought, maybe it’s the chain itself. I read somewhere that heavier chains are less likely to flip. Mine is kinda light, so that might be part of the problem. I don’t have another one to compare it to, so I couldn’t really test this theory out. I found this post about using a necklace extender, and I did have one of those lying around. I hooked it on, thinking maybe the extra length would help. It did, a bit, but it still flipped sometimes.
- Clasping it correctly.
- Heavier chain to reduce flipping.
- Adding a necklace extender.
Next, I started getting into some more, uh, creative solutions. Adding a clasp? Sure, why not. I grabbed one from an old bracelet and tried attaching it to the tennis chain. It didn’t really do much, to be honest. Then there was the idea of wearing a lighter necklace with it. The thought was that maybe the lighter one would, like, hold the heavier one down? I tried it with a couple of different necklaces, but it didn’t make a noticeable difference.
Maintenance Matters
Oh, and maintenance! I guess keeping your chain clean and stuff is important, too. I haven’t really done that much, so maybe that’s contributing to the problem. I did try wiping it down with a soft cloth, and I guess it looked a little shinier afterward. Not sure if it helped with the flipping, though.
The last thing I tried was this counterweight idea. Some necklaces have a little weight on the clasp to help balance them out. I didn’t have anything like that, so I tried using a small charm. I attached it near the clasp, and it actually seemed to help a bit! It wasn’t a complete fix, but it definitely flipped less often.
So, yeah, that’s my journey into the world of tennis chain wrangling. I’m still not 100% there, but I’ve definitely learned a few things. I hope it can be helpful to you.
