Okay, so I was trying to figure out how to get the NFL Sunday Ticket thing on my Roku. It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
First, I learned that NFL Sunday Ticket is not directly available on Roku as a standalone app. So I started digging around. Turns out, you gotta go through YouTube TV or YouTube Primetime Channels. I went to the Roku Channel Store, but nope, no NFL Sunday Ticket app there.

Then, I found out that to get this on my Roku, I needed to sign up for it through YouTube. So, I had two options: YouTube TV, which started at around $379 for the season, or YouTube Primetime Channels, which was a bit pricier at around $479 a season. And guess what? This only gets you the out-of-market games on Sunday afternoons. No preseason or postseason games included.
I also looked into the NFL Channel on The Roku Channel. It’s free and all, with highlights and stuff, but it doesn’t show live games. So, that wasn’t going to cut it for me. There’s also an NFL Zone in the Sports section, but again, it was just to see upcoming games, not actually watch them live.
I checked out NFL+ too. But, from what I gathered, the regular subscription and the Premium tier only cover primetime and local in-market games. So, not all NFL games were available there either. I guess it would work for some people, but I wanted the whole shebang.
So, here’s what I finally did. I decided to go with YouTube TV. I subscribed to it, and then I could access the NFL Sunday Ticket through there. After subscribing, I went back to my Roku, logged into my YouTube TV account, and voila! I could finally get to the games.
- Step 1: Subscribed to YouTube TV.
- Step 2: Logged into YouTube TV on my Roku.
- Step 3: Accessed NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube TV.
It wasn’t as straightforward as I hoped, but hey, I got there in the end. Now I can watch those out-of-market games on my Roku. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it does the job. Hope this helps someone else out there trying to figure this out!
