Alright, so ya wanna know what channel is Michigan State football game on, huh? Well, lemme tell ya, it ain’t always easy findin’ these things. These young’uns with their fancy TVs and whatnot, they got it all figured out. But for us old folks, it’s a whole ‘nother story.
First thing ya gotta know is, it changes. Yep, just like the weather, that channel jumps around more than a flea on a hot skillet. One week it might be on one of them “Big Ten Network” things, whatever that is. Sounds fancy, I reckon. Then the next week, poof! It’s gone, moved over to somethin’ called “Fox Sports 1” or somethin’ they call “FS1.” Lord, they got too many numbers and letters these days.

Now, I heard tell, and this is just what I heard, mind ya, that sometimes them games are even on somethin’ called “Peacock.” Peacock! Like a bird? I swear, they’re makin’ this stuff up as they go. They say some fellers, Paul Burmeister and Colt McCoy, they do the talkin’ during the game. And some gal, Zara Stephenson, she’s on the sidelines, yakkin’ away. Good for them, I guess.
- Big Ten Network: Sometimes it’s on this one. Keep an eye out.
- Fox Sports 1 (FS1): Another place them games like to hide.
- Peacock: This one’s a newfangled thing. Might need a computer or somethin’. Heard it’s got a free trial, whatever that means.
- NBC: Sometimes them big games are on here, specially when they playin’ that Michigan team.
- FOX: And sometimes, they show up here too, like when they playin’ that Purdue bunch.
Then there’s all that talk about who’s playin’ who. Seems like they got this “Wolverines” team, and they’re always a big deal. And then there’s our boys, the “Spartans.” They play all sorts of teams, like “Indiana” and “Purdue.” They got numbers next to their names too, like “4-2” and “3-3.” Beats me what all that means. Just sounds like a bunch of jumbled-up numbers to this old lady.
I heard someone blabberin’ about a game on Saturday. Said Michigan is playin’ Michigan State. Big game, they say. On NBC, apparently. At night, too. Gonna need extra coffee for that one, I reckon. And another time, them Spartans is playin’ Indiana. That one’s on somethin’ called “Peacock.” Honestly, it’s enough to make your head spin.
Then there’s the radio. Yep, you can still listen to the game on the radio. There’s this “WWJ-AM” station, 950 they call it, in Detroit. They got other stations too, but I can’t keep track of ’em all. Sometimes, that’s the best way to go, just sittin’ on the porch, listenin’ to the game. No fancy TVs, no complicated numbers, just the sound of the fellers callin’ the plays. That’s the way I like it, simple and easy.
So, to find out what channel the Michigan State football game is on, you gotta pay attention. Read the paper, if they still make those things. Ask your grandkids, they seem to know everything about these gadgets. Or just keep flippin’ through the channels till ya find it. That’s what I usually do. Eventually, you’ll stumble across it. And if all else fails, there’s always that radio. At least that’s somethin’ I can understand.
Remember, figuring out the channel ain’t always a walk in the park. It changes all the time, and they got all these fancy names and numbers. But with a little patience and a whole lot of luck, you’ll find that game. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go find my glasses. All this talk about channels is makin’ my eyes blurry.

And one last thing, they say Purdue is playing Michigan State on FOX. Connor Onion and Mark Helfrich are the ones yapping on the TV for that game. They do a decent job, I guess, better than some of them other fellas who just mumble the whole time. Anyway, that’s all I know. Hope it helps ya find that game.
