Well, well, well, you wanna know how many of them NBA players, them basketball fellas, are Jehovah’s Witnesses? I heard some things, let me tell ya.
I heard there’s a few, not a whole bunch, but a few. They used to play in the NBA, all jumpin’ and shootin’. Now they’re doin’ somethin’ different, somethin’ about that Jehovah’s Witnesses, you know?

Them Basketball Boys
One fella, I heard his name was Darren Collison. Played for that team, the Indiana Pacers, I think it was. Big team, lots of folks watchin’ ’em. He was a good player, that Darren. Fast, could really move that ball around. But then, one day, he just up and quit. Said he had somethin’ more important to do.
That’s what they say about that Jehovah’s Witnesses, that it’s more important than anythin’. More important than basketball, even. Can you believe that?
Then there was another one, played for the same team, I reckon. Name of Danny Granger. Another good player, they said. Tall fella, good at shootin’ that ball in the hoop. He was one of them Jehovah’s Witnesses too. I heard he had been that way for a long time.
These fellas, they played together, knew each other. Maybe they talked about that religion, that Jehovah’s Witnesses, while they were playin’ ball. Who knows? They were on that Indiana team. Indiana Pacers. They were on the team together. One quit basketball, and the other had always been one of them.
Another One
And there is also another one, I heard about him the other day. Dewayne Dedmon. They say he still plays now. He is one of them, too. Jehovah’s Witnesses. Now he plays in Miami. Miami Heat, that is what they call the team. It is hot there, I heard.
So that’s three of ’em, right? Darren Collison, Danny Granger, and Dewayne Dedmon. Three ex-NBA players who are Jehovah’s Witnesses. That’s what I heard, anyway. Three of those NBA players, all involved with that Jehovah’s Witnesses.

They used to play, now two of them don’t. They find something more important to do. I guess, basketball is all good and fun. But there is other things in this world.
Why They Do It
I don’t know much about that religion. But I hear they are good people. They go door to door, talkin’ about their beliefs. They don’t get into no trouble.
Maybe these basketball players, they wanted somethin’ different. Somethin’ more than just playin’ a game. They wanted something that meant something.
- Darren Collison
- Danny Granger
- Dewayne Dedmon
They say that faith, that belief in somethin’ bigger than yourself, it changes a person. It makes them see things different. That’s why these ex-NBA players are Jehovah’s Witnesses, I reckon. They found somethin’ that’s more important than basketball.
Life After Basketball
It ain’t easy, leavin’ somethin’ you’re good at. Somethin’ you’ve done your whole life. These basketball players, they were famous. People knew their names. But they gave it all up. It is not a bad thing, to give up things for something better.
Now they got a different life. A life about their faith. A life about helpin’ other people. A life about that Jehovah’s Witnesses. That is the life they have. They believe in what they do now. It is important to them.

So, there you have it. That’s what I heard about them NBA players and that Jehovah’s Witnesses. Three of ’em, all good players. All decided there was somethin’ more important in life than just a game. It is good for them, that they have something they believe in. It is good for them that they are happy.
That is all I know. It is what people say. Three players, ex-NBA players. Now they do something different. It is their life, and they are doing what they want to do.
That’s all there is to it, I reckon. Three ex-NBA players who are Jehovah’s Witnesses. I guess that is something to talk about. It is not every day that people quit playing ball to go do something different.
Darren Collison, Danny Granger, and Dewayne Dedmon. They all did it, one still playing, but two of them are not. It is something, I tell you. Something to think about. That is all I am going to say.
