This here thing, this college football, it’s a big deal, you know? All them young fellas runnin’ around, tryin’ to get that ball. My grandson, bless his heart, he tried to explain it to me once. Said it was ’bout some kinda selection show. Now, I ain’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I reckon I can figure out when somethin’s happenin’.
So, this here selection show, seems like it’s the big cheese, the main event, where they pick the teams. They say it’s on that fancy box, the TV. They call the channel some letters that don’t make much sense to old me, but all I know is that it’s where the magic happens. They say it’s on this channel called ESPN. I don’t get many channels on my old TV, but I reckon I can find it if I squint hard enough.

Now, when is this darn thing? Well, I heard some folks talkin’ down at the general store the other day. They was sayin’ it’s on a Sunday. Not this past Sunday, mind you, but a Sunday comin’ up. Somethin’ about December 3rd. That’s what I heard, clear as a bell. December 3rd, a Sunday. Mark that down.
And what time, you ask? Well, that’s where it gets a little fuzzy. Seems like it starts when the big hand’s on the 12 and the little hand’s on the 12 too. Noon, they call it. High noon, like in them old westerns. That’s when you gotta be planted in front of that TV, I reckon. Noon on Sunday, December 3rd. For this College Football Playoff selection show. That’s the big one.
They say you can watch it on that ESPN app too. Now, I ain’t got no fancy phone to watch it on, but maybe you young folks do. If you can’t be by the TV, maybe that app thing will work. Just make sure you know how to use it. Don’t be like me, fiddlin’ with the buttons and endin’ up watchin’ static.
- Sunday, December 3rd.
- Noon, sharp.
- ESPN, that’s the channel.
- It’s the College Football Playoff selection show.
Now, I heard some other things too. Some folks call this thing the CFP. Don’t ask me what them letters stand for. Just know that when you hear folks sayin’ CFP, they’re talkin’ about this here college football thing. It’s all the same shebang.
And they got all sorts of fancy words for it. They say it’s “streamin’.” Sounds like somethin’ you do with a fishin’ rod, but I reckon it means you can watch it on your computer or somethin’. Technology these days, I tell ya. It’s all beyond me. But if you’re into that kinda thing, you can probably “stream” this selection show. Just make sure you got a good internet signal, whatever that means.
Another thing they said that made me scratch my head is that some team called the Crimson Tide ain’t gonna be in the College Football Playoff. They talk about this CFP rankings and some teams are not in it. I don’t know nothing about no Crimson Tide, but it sounds like somethin’ important. Maybe they ain’t good enough this year, I don’t know. This college football is a mystery to me, like a hog starin’ at a wristwatch.

So, there you have it. That’s all this old lady knows about this College Football Playoff selection show. It’s on Sunday, December 3rd, at noon, on ESPN. You can watch it on your TV or maybe “stream” it on your computer or phone. And apparently, this CFP thing is a big deal, even if the Crimson Tide ain’t in it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got some chores to do. This ain’t gonna explain itself to my chickens, you know.
I also heard some folks talk about December 21 at 4 p.m., but I think that’s for something else. I heard something about Texas, but don’t you worry your pretty little head about that. Just remember, this selection show for College Football Playoff thing, that’s December 3rd, a Sunday at noon on ESPN!
