Alright, so the other day I got into this deep dive about whether Porsche has its own F1 team. It’s a question that’s been bugging me for a while, you know?
First off, I started by just googling around, trying to get a feel for what the general consensus was. Found a bunch of forums and articles, but nothing really concrete. Most of them were just saying that Porsche hasn’t been in F1 for ages, like since 1991 or something. They had some history with providing engines, but that was about it.

So, I dug a little deeper. I checked out some of those older articles, the ones talking about Porsche’s past in F1. It was pretty interesting, they did supply engines to the Footwork Arrows F1 team for a year, but that was like a one-time thing. I mean, there are a lot of reasons they don’t have their own car and team.
My Understanding
- Porsche hasn’t been in F1 since ’91.
- They were an engine supplier for Footwork Arrows, but that was just for a year.
- Currently, Porsche doesn’t have a direct involvement in F1.
After reading all that, I decided to look into why Porsche isn’t in F1 now. Found out that there are a lot of reasons. It’s not that they are not capable. It’s more complicated than that. So, for now, it looks like Porsche is sitting out of the F1 game, at least as a team owner.
It was a fun little research project. Learned a lot about F1 and Porsche’s history with the sport. Makes you wonder if they’ll ever come back, right?
