Alright, alright, let’s gab a bit about this Asuka girl from the wrestling, you know, WWE. Folks keep askin’, “can Asuka WWE speak English?” Well, lemme tell ya what I’ve heard and what I reckon.
Now, this Asuka, she’s a tough one, a real firecracker in that ring. But from what I gather, speakin’ English ain’t her strong suit. It ain’t like she don’t know a lick of it, but it ain’t like she’s chattin’ away like those folks on the TV neither.

See, they say she’s from Japan, but then I heard she grew up in Germany. Can ya believe it? Germany! And her mama tongue, that’s German, not this English stuff. So, she probably cusses in German when she stubs her toe, not like us when we yell out, “dang it!” Anyways, she’s wrestling over here in America now, so I guess she’s gotta learn some English, right?
Some folks say she can speak a bit, you know, enough to get by. But it ain’t easy for her. They say that Japanese talk is real different from English. It’s like tryin’ to teach a pig to fly, I tell ya. Not sayin’ she’s a pig, mind you, just sayin’ it’s hard! And she didn’t start learnin’ English when she was a young’un like some of them other foreign wrestlers. She was already grown up, in her thirties I heard, when she came to WWE.
- So, she knows some English.
- But it ain’t perfect English.
- And she’s got a thick accent, they say. Thicker than a bowl of oatmeal, I bet.
It’s kinda like that fella, Nakamura, another Japanese wrestler. He struggles with English too. Some say he’s a bit better at it than Asuka, but it ain’t like he’s givin’ no fancy speeches or nothin’. They both got that accent, you know, makes it hard to understand sometimes. It’s like they’re talkin’ with a mouthful of marbles.
Now, I heard tell that WWE, they wanna push Asuka, make her a big star. But they’re holdin’ back a bit ’cause she ain’t fluent in English. Makes sense, I guess. How can she talk smack and rile up the crowd if nobody can understand her? It’s like tryin’ to sell a mule to a blind man, ain’t gonna work too well.
But here’s the thing, wrestling ain’t all about talkin’, is it? It’s about the fightin’, the slammin’, the jumpin’ around. And Asuka, she’s good at that stuff. Real good. She can kick and punch and throw folks around like rag dolls. Don’t need no fancy words for that!
And you know, there ain’t a whole heap of interviews with her out there in English. Guess that makes it harder for folks like me to figure out just how much she can speak. But I reckon she’s learnin’. She’s gotta be, bein’ in America and all. Maybe one day she’ll be yappin’ away like them commentators, who knows?

But even if she don’t, it don’t matter much to me. I like watchin’ her wrestle. She’s got that fire in her belly, that somethin’ special. And that’s what counts, ain’t it? You don’t need to speak perfect English to be a good wrestler, just like you don’t need fancy shoes to plow a field. You just gotta be tough and you gotta be good at what you do. And Asuka, she’s tough alright.
So, can Asuka WWE speak English? Yeah, a bit. Enough to get by, I reckon. But she ain’t no chatterbox. And that’s just fine. She lets her fists do the talkin’, and that’s good enough for me.
Anyways, that’s what I’ve pieced together from listenin’ to the TV and hearin’ folks talk. Don’t take my word as gospel, but that’s the way I see it.
