Okay, so the other day, I was watching a football game with my buddy, and we got into this whole debate about what happens to NFL players after they retire. Like, do they get a pension? I had no clue, so I decided to dig in and find out.
First, I hit up Google. I just typed in “do NFL players get a pension” and, boom, tons of articles popped up. I started clicking through a few of them, trying to get a general sense of things.

My Research Process
- Started Broad: I skimmed a bunch of articles from different sources—sports websites, financial sites, you name it.
- Got Specific: I looked for anything that mentioned the official NFL retirement plan.
It started to become clear to me that there might be some details that I should consider, so I looked into it.
What’s needed for an NFL pension plan?
So, it turns out, yeah, NFL players do have a pension * seemed like there were some requirements, so I made note of that.
- Credited Seasons:That’s the big one, apparently. It said NFL players get a pension, but you need at least three “credited seasons”.
After getting the basic picture,I felt like i got the main idea about the NFL players getting * basically it’s a yes for me!
