Okay, so, I’ve been seeing this name, Matthew Gierhart, popping up a lot lately, especially on this mrbeardeddragon_ account. And everyone’s going nuts about him, especially in these basketball videos. At first I thought he was just another viral dude and I didn’t pay much attention to him at all. But there are more and more likes and comments on each post. It made me curious. So I decided to dig a little deeper and figure out what’s the deal with this guy and whether he actually played in the NBA or not.
First, I went straight to the source – this mrbeardeddragon_ guy’s profile. I scrolled through some posts. Man, this guy’s got a ton of followers! One post has, like, 203K likes and over 4,000 comments! And it’s all basketball stuff. Another one mentions something about “NJCAA DIII MBB Player of the Week” and there’s Matthew Gierhart’s name again, apparently after leading Columbus State to some big wins. So, he’s definitely a good player, no doubt about that.
But that didn’t answer my main question – the NBA. So, I started checking out some of the comments, hoping someone might have mentioned something. I saw a bunch of people asking what position he played, and someone answered “Forward.” Okay, good to know, but still not enough.
Getting Closer to the Truth
Then, I hit up Google. I typed in “did matthew gierhart play in the nba” and started looking through the search results. I found some websites that track basketball stats and history, but nothing concrete about Gierhart and the NBA.
- Some sites listed his achievements in college and JUCO, which, don’t get me wrong, are super impressive.
- I even found this one thing about a court ruling saying JUCO athletes keep their NCAA eligibility, which is pretty interesting, but not what I was looking for.
The Verdict
After all this digging, I came to a conclusion. It looks like Matthew Gierhart is a seriously talented basketball player. He’s got skills, he’s got the awards, and he’s definitely got the social media game on lock. But, from what I could find, he hasn’t played in the NBA. He might have played in college or other leagues, but the big leagues? Nope, not yet, at least.
It’s kind of cool, though. This guy’s making a name for himself through these videos and his skills, not through the traditional NBA route. It shows you don’t always need to follow the same path to get noticed. And who knows, maybe one day he will make it to the NBA. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on him.
