Okay, so, I’ve been digging into this De Soto football player thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I started, like always, just poking around, seeing what I could find about the team’s performance this season. You know, just trying to get a general vibe of how they are doing.
First I found that De Soto had a solid first half in one of their games, jumping to a 20-0 lead. They scored twice on pass plays, which got me thinking about their offensive strategy. Seems like they’ve got some talented players in their skill positions, though I also read that many of these are underclassmen, so they’re a young team with what would appear to be some good potential.

I was particularly interested in one player, Austin Missey, a senior quarterback. Turns out he’s been a starter for four years! I mean, that’s pretty rare, right? And get this, the article I found said he almost quit football at one point. Imagine what De Soto would have missed out on if he had walked away from the sport!
Then there’s this Jayden Lang guy. An article mentioned that he had a particularly good performance in one of their wins. I couldn’t find out a ton about him but tried to look him up to see what his stats were like. What I could gather is that he’s a key player, and it seems like De Soto’s success is a real team effort, with multiple players stepping up.
Speaking of the team, they’ve been on a bit of a roll lately, with two wins in a row. And their defense? Solid. They’ve held opponents under 15 points in five games this season. That’s no joke! This sets them up for a big game coming up, and I’m definitely going to be watching that one.
- Coaching Change:
- It seems there’s a new head coach, Schmidt, who used to be an assistant at Hillsboro. He helped them win a district title last year, so he’s got some experience under his belt. Now he’s got the top job at De Soto, which is a big step up.
- Senior Leadership:
- There’s a lot of talk about the senior class leading the team. Even though they had a “senior night” for the band and cheer squad, which is kind of funny, it seems like the senior players are really stepping up and setting the tone for the team.
- All-State Selections:
- Two De Soto players, Marshall Kellner and Trevor Watts, were selected as All-State football players by the Kansas Football Coaches Association. That’s a huge honor and speaks volumes about the talent on this team.
So, yeah, that’s what I’ve found out so far about the De Soto football team. I wanted to find out more about each player, but that was a bit difficult. There are a lot of them, after all. Still, a young team with experienced leadership, a new coach with a winning record, and some standout players. They’re definitely a team to watch!
I’m going to keep digging and see what else I can find. I have a feeling there are more interesting stories to uncover. Stay tuned!
