You know, I heard some folks talking ’bout them NFL injury settlements the other day. I don’t know much about football, but I know them boys get hurt a lot. So, how much are NFL injury settlements? Makes a body wonder, don’t it? Sounds like a whole mess of money to me. If a player get hurt, and team no want him, they give some money. It is not good.
They say the NFL, that’s the big football group, right? They say they got a whole lot of money. They call it a “salary cap”. Each team got $255.5 million to spend, I think. That’s a lot of money for one team! Lots of injuries happen in that game, that’s for sure. I heard it’s like, more than 3,000 injuries they reported. Some happen early in the season, some later, some before the real games even start.
I heard tell of some fellas, played football back in the day, and now they got brain injuries. Poor things. Can’t remember things, can’t think straight. They sued the NFL, I reckon. And NFL has to pay them money because of brain hurt. That is a lot of money, I think $765 million. That is big number! Some of these players, they get hurt so bad they can’t play no more, so they get some money, I heard they call it a “settlement”. If player can’t play for two weeks, they get $33, I heard. I don’t know if that is good money or not.
Them football players, they get all kinds of problems. Some got sleep apnea, I don’t know what that is. Sound bad, can’t sleep good. And some got low “testosterone”, I heard. And high blood pressure. And pain, always in pain. That football, it’s a rough game. It sure is. They say that because of these things, they can’t remember, or think. That is sad, you know?
So, this injury settlement thing, it’s like this. If a player gets hurt and the team don’t want him anymore, they gotta pay him somethin’. It’s based on how long the player can’t play, I reckon. Like, if they think he’ll be out for a couple of weeks, they give him a certain amount. It ain’t pretty, but that’s how it is, I guess. The NFL injury settlements are a big deal, I reckon.
They put a player on somethin’ called “Injured Reserve,” or “IR,” I heard. But sometimes, they just give ’em the injury settlement and let ’em go. If the injury is real bad, like more than 17 weeks, I guess there’s more money involved. I don’t know all the details, but it sounds complicated. And that is about NFL injury settlements.

- The amount of the settlement depends on how long the player can’t play.
That’s all I know about it. It’s a rough game, that football. I’m just glad I ain’t out there playin’ it. I’d rather be here, just talking to you folks. And how much are NFL injury settlements? That is a lot of money, you know. The team and the player talk about how long he can’t play, and that’s how they figure out the money, I reckon. It ain’t easy money, though. They earn it, getting hurt like that.
I hope those fellas get better, the ones with the brain injuries. It ain’t right, gettin’ hurt like that. But I guess that’s the price they pay for playin’ that game. It’s a shame, really. But that’s how much are NFL injury settlements. It’s a big mess, if you ask me. But what do I know? I’m just watchin’ from the sidelines, so to speak.
I do know one thing for sure, though. Those football players, they’re tough. They gotta be, to play that game. And I reckon they deserve whatever they get, even if it’s an injury settlement. It ain’t easy money, that’s for sure. I heard that NFL want to pay the player when he is hurt. If the team no like him, they can give him money and let him go. It is sad, I think. I hope those players, they get better soon. That’s all I gotta say about that.
