Alright, guys, so I’ve always been a huge WWE fan, right? Like, HUGE. And I’ve also always loved writing. So, naturally, I thought, “Why not combine the two?” I mean, how cool would it be to write storylines for WWE? So, I decided to give it a shot, and let me tell you, it was a journey. Here’s how it all went down.
Phase 1: The Deep Dive
First things first, I immersed myself in everything WWE. I wasn’t just watching the shows; I was studying them. I paid attention to how storylines developed, how characters interacted, and the overall pacing of the shows.

- Watched tons of current programming (Raw, SmackDown, NXT – you name it).
- Dug into older stuff, classic matches, and storylines.
- Read interviews with writers and wrestlers to get a feel for the behind-the-scenes process.
- Followed some wrestling news websites, just to stay update.
Phase 2: Practice Makes Perfect (Sort Of)
Knowing the product is one thing, but writing for it is a whole different ballgame. So, I started practicing. I’d take existing storylines and write my own continuations, or I’d create entirely new characters and scenarios.
- Wrote a bunch of short scripts, just focusing on dialogue and character interactions.
- Tried my hand at longer-form storylines, outlining entire feuds and PPV matches.
- Shared some of my work with friends (the ones who wouldn’t laugh, anyway) for feedback.
Phase 3: Getting My Foot in the Door (Or Trying To)
This step is always the trickiest one, cause it´s hard work to achieve something in such a competitive world.
- I created a portfolio of different match scripts.
- I filled the form and did the submission.
Phase 4: Refine and Rewrite
After submitting, I didn’t just sit around. I kept writing, kept refining my skills, and kept studying the product. Cause I want it so hard.
- I reworked some of my earlier scripts based on feedback.
- I studied more and more about how stories where told in the WWE.
It’s a long shot, I know. But hey, you gotta dream big, right? And even if I never actually write for WWE, I’ve still had a blast honing my writing skills and diving even deeper into the world of professional wrestling. It’s a win-win, really.
