So, let me tell ya, this match between Bayer Leverkusen and FSV Mainz 05 was a right ol’ scrap. You see, both teams have their fair share of ups and downs, but when it comes to ratings, well, there’s a lot to talk about. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I can tell you a thing or two ‘bout what I seen on that pitch.
Bayer Leverkusen were looking pretty strong, sitting at the 4th spot in the table. That’s no small feat, you know? They’ve been playing good, real good, with a solid line-up that don’t mess around. Their main players showed up, and it was clear that they meant business.

Let’s start with Kerem Demirbay. He was runnin’ the show in midfield, keepin’ the ball movin’ and creatin’ chances. He wasn’t afraid to get stuck in either, winin’ some crucial tackles. As for Patrik Schick, that lad is always a threat. He’s a goal machine, you can tell just by lookin’ at him. Didn’t get a goal this time, but you could see he was ready to pounce whenever the ball came near him.
Then, there’s Moussa Diaby. This fella is fast, I mean faster than a rabbit chasin’ after a carrot. He kept the Mainz defenders on their toes all night long. Sure, he might’ve missed a few chances, but don’t let that fool ya, he’s always a danger in attack.
Now, on the other side, FSV Mainz 05 had a bit of a tougher time. They weren’t as sharp, and well, they couldn’t quite break down Leverkusen’s defense. Still, they gave it a good go. Karim Onisiwo</strong, bless him, tried to get things going, though it wasn’t enough to change the course of the game. He did his best, and credit where credit’s due, he assisted on a few chances, including a header by Jonathan Burkardt that nearly went in. Just missed, but it could’ve been a game-changer if it hit the back of the net.
Speaking of Burkardt, I’ll tell ya, he’s a young one with plenty of potential. Didn’t get a goal this time, but I reckon he’ll be one to watch in the future. The lad’s got some good instincts, and with a bit more experience, he could be a real handful for defenders.
Player Ratings Breakdown:
- Bayer Leverkusen:
- Kerem Demirbay: 7/10 – Controlled the midfield, good work rate.
- Patrik Schick: 6/10 – Didn’t score, but was a constant threat in the box.
- Moussa Diaby: 7/10 – Fast and dangerous, missed a few chances but always a threat.
- FSV Mainz 05:
- Karim Onisiwo: 6/10 – Tried to make things happen, but needed more support.
- Jonathan Burkardt: 6/10 – Close to scoring, good movement, but couldn’t finish.
It wasn’t a high-scoring game, but it was full of fight and spirit. Leverkusen deserved their win, and Mainz, well, they didn’t make it easy for ’em, but in the end, it just wasn’t their day. But like I said before, the future’s bright for these lads. Both teams have players who could go on to do big things.

All in all, this game showed that Bayer Leverkusen’s got the depth and quality to keep up with the top sides. Mainz, on the other hand, still need to find that extra bit of spark to compete at the same level. But don’t count ‘em out just yet – they’ve got some talent, they just need to fine-tune things a bit more.
