Hey, you young’uns, come over here! Let me tell you about this A.L. Brown football thing. Sounds important, don’t it? I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market. They say it’s a big deal, this A.L. Brown football. Seems like everyone in Kannapolis knows about it. I don’t know much about football, my old man used to watch it on that flickering TV box we had, but these A.L. Brown boys, they seem to be somethin’ special.
They got a high school, I reckon it’s called A.L. Brown High School. And these young fellas play football there. They call ’em the Wonders. Sounds kinda fancy, don’t it? Wonders. Well, they must be pretty good to be called that. I bet they can run like the wind. This A.L. Brown football is important for them, it seems.

I heard some folks sayin’ somethin’ about a Victory Bell. Now, I don’t know what that is, but it sounds mighty important. They said these A.L. Brown boys, these Wonders, they got to keep that bell. It’s a battle, they said. A battle for the bell! Sounds like a war or somethin’. And they play against some team called Concord. Big rivals, I guess, just like those two families down the road that always fight about their darn fence. This A.L. Brown football team plays against that team, they said.

November 1st, 2024, That’s a date I heard. Must be a big game or somethin’. They’ll probably all be out there, hollerin’ and screamin’. I remember when my youngest, bless his heart, used to play. He was a skinny thing, but he could run. Maybe he coulda played for them A.L. Brown football fellas. Who knows.
They got scores, you know. Like keepin’ track of eggs. How many touchdowns, I reckon, and all that. They even put it up on some board, I heard. And pictures, too! These young’uns today, they got pictures of everything. I bet these A.L. Brown High School boys are all over them pictures.
Some folks were sayin’ there ain’t no place like home for these A.L. Brown boys. They like playin’ right here in Kannapolis. Makes sense, I reckon. Home is where the heart is, they say. And where your mama’s cookin’ is, too! I bet these A.L. Brown football players get a good meal before they go out there.
They got a schedule, too. Like a plantin’ schedule, but for football. Tells you when they play and who they play against. Keeps everyone organized, I suppose. You wouldn’t want these A.L. Brown football Wonders showin’ up on the wrong day, would ya? That’d be a mess.
A.L. Brown MaxPreps, that’s something I heard, too. Don’t know what it means, but it probably something important for that A.L. Brown football thing. Maybe a place to see their schedule and who they play against.

One time, I heard, these Concord fellas, they almost got that Victory Bell. They were close, real close. Just a few yards away, they said. But these A.L. Brown Wonders, they stopped ’em. They held ’em back. Must have been a sight to see. I would have like to see that A.L. Brown football game, for sure.
They say it was a big win for the Wonders. A shutout, they called it. Don’t know exactly what that means, but it sounds like they won big. Real big. Biggest win in a long time, I heard. These A.L. Brown football fellas, they sure made folks proud that day. It must be important to that town, Kannapolis.
They play other teams, too. Not just Concord. They travel around, I reckon, playin’ all sorts of teams. It’s a big thing, this high school football. Bigger than a county fair, almost. They have these A.L. Brown football games on Friday night, I think.
So, there you have it. That’s what I know about this A.L. Brown football. It’s a big deal, that’s for sure. These Wonders, they’re somethin’ special. They bring folks together, I reckon. Just like a good potluck supper. If you ever in Kannapolis, maybe you will see one of that A.L. Brown football game.
