Alright, listen up, y’all. Folks keep askin’ me, can you be a fan of two NFL teams? Well, I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but I got some thoughts on this here matter.
First off, it ain’t like cheatin’ on your husband or somethin’. It’s just football. You ain’t married to no team, even if you feel like it sometimes when they’re losin’ and you’re yellin’ at the TV. So, if you wanna like two teams, who’s gonna stop ya? Nobody, that’s who. It’s your heart, your TV, and your beer.

Now, some folks, they get all riled up about this. They say you gotta pick one and stick with ’em through thick and thin. Like it’s some kinda oath you swore. But I say, baloney! Life’s too short to be stickin’ to just one thing all the time. You like two kinds of pie, don’t ya? Well, maybe you can like two football teams, too.
Why would someone like two teams anyway?
- Maybe your family’s split. Your mama likes one team, your daddy likes another. You grow up watchin’ both, you gonna end up likin’ both, that’s just how it is.
- Maybe you moved. You grew up lovin’ one team, then you moved somewhere else and started likin’ the local team, too. Nothin’ wrong with that. It’s like havin’ two hometowns, kinda.
- Maybe you just like the players. You see a player you like on another team, you start watchin’ their games, you might start rootin’ for ’em a little. That’s natural.
Now, some folks say you can’t love two teams equally. And maybe they’re right. Maybe you gotta have a favorite. Like, one team’s your main squeeze, and the other one’s just your… side piece? I don’t know, I ain’t good with these fancy words. But you get the idea. One team’s the one you really care about, the one you cry over when they lose. The other one, well, you like ’em, but it ain’t the same.
And then there’s the problem of them playin’ against each other. What then? Who do you root for? Well, that’s a pickle, ain’t it? But I reckon you just gotta go with your gut. Or maybe you flip a coin. Or maybe you just hope for a good game and don’t care who wins. It ain’t the end of the world, y’know?
Some of them fellas on the internet, they say there’s rules about this. Owners can’t own two teams, they say. Well, that’s them, they’re rich folks. Us regular folks, we do what we want. Them fellas also said somethin’ about likin’ teams from different divisions. Seems like there’s always someone tryin’ to make up rules for everything. But I say, pshaw!
So, can you be a fan of two NFL teams? Sure, why not? It ain’t hurtin’ nobody. You like who you like, and don’t let nobody tell you different. It’s your life, your football, your choice. And if someone don’t like it, well, they can just go jump in a lake, as far as I’m concerned.

And listen, if you want to like three teams, or even all of ’em, go right ahead. There’s plenty of football to go around. Just don’t come cryin’ to me when your teams lose, ‘cause that’s just the way it goes sometimes. You take the good with the bad, and you keep on watchin’. That’s what bein’ a fan is all about, far as I can tell.
You like a team, you like a team. It ain’t more complicated than that. Don’t let folks with their fancy rules and their big words tell you otherwise. Just enjoy the game.
And that’s all I got to say about that.
