Alright, let’s talk about them Gonzaga fellas in the NBA, you know, the basketball players. Heard some folks sayin’ there’s a whole bunch of ’em, so I figured, let’s see how many we got.
Now, I ain’t no fancy expert or nothin’, but from what I hear, Gonzaga, that’s a school, a college, you know, like where young folks go to learn stuff. And seems like they got a real good basketball team there, the Bulldogs they call ’em. Tough name, huh? Like my ol’ hound dog, Buster, always chasin’ squirrels.

Well, from what I gathered, at the start of the 2023-24 season, there was, count ’em, eleven Gonzaga players in the NBA. Eleven! That’s a whole lotta fellas, ain’t it? Like a whole pew full of folks at Sunday service. Heard tell that’s as many as some of them other big schools, even more than most. Gonzaga, they up there with the best, seems like.

And it ain’t just that they got eleven players, it’s that a lot of ’em were real good, drafted in the first round and all. Nine of them, they say. First round! That means the teams, they really wanted them, saw somethin’ special. Like pickin’ the plumpest tomatoes from the garden, you know? They the cream of the crop.
Makes you wonder, don’t it? How does a school like Gonzaga, ain’t as big as some of them other places, how do they get so many players into the NBA? They must be doin’ somethin’ right over there. Trainin’ ’em good, teachin’ ’em the ropes. Like my mama used to say, “Hard work and good eatin’ gets you far.” Guess that applies to basketball too.
Now, I also heard tell that not many college players actually make it to the NBA. Something like one percent, they said. One percent! That’s like findin’ a four-leaf clover in a hay field. But these Gonzaga boys, they beatin’ the odds, ain’t they? Showin’ everyone that hard work pays off. Reminds me of that time I won the blue ribbon for my apple pie at the county fair. Never thought I could do it, but I did!
And it ain’t just about getting there, it’s about stayin’ there. These fellas, they gotta keep workin’ hard, keep improvin’, or they’ll be out on their ear. NBA’s a tough business, you know? And who knows, maybe next year there’ll be even more Gonzaga players in the NBA. Maybe twelve, maybe fifteen. The sky’s the limit, I guess. Just gotta keep workin’ hard, keep believin’ in yourself. And maybe, just maybe, one day your grandkid will be up there too, playin’ ball with the best of ‘em. Wouldn’t that be somethin’?
