Oh, honey, let me tell ya about these wrestling guys, these WWE fellas. There’s this one, Rob Van Dam, or somethin’ like that. My grandson, he’s all crazy about ’em. Always screamin’ and jumpin’ when these fellas are on the TV. Says they’re action figures, whatever that means.
Now, these action figures, they ain’t like the dolls I used to play with. These are tough-lookin’ guys, all muscles and funny shorts. And this Rob fella, he’s got long hair, looks like he needs a good trim, if you ask me. But the kids, they love him. He does all sorts of jumps and kicks, makes my old heart jump right outta my chest.

- They got these toys that look just like him, only smaller. And they bend! Arms go up, legs go out, like they’re really wrestling. My grandson, he makes ’em fight each other. Bang, crash, he yells, makin’ all sorts of noises.
I seen him playin’ with one, this Rob Van Dam one. It’s got tattoos all over, just like the real guy on TV. And those shorts, they got letters on ’em, RVD. Kids nowadays, they like that kinda stuff. My dolls, they had pretty dresses, not letters and tattoos. But times change, I guess.
And these things, they cost a pretty penny. My boy, he spent a whole week’s allowance on one of them. Just a little plastic man, but he says it’s worth it. He plays with it all the time, makin’ up stories about wrestling matches and champions.
- They got others too, not just this Rob fella. Big guys, scary guys, guys with masks. My grandson, he wants ’em all. Says he needs ’em for his collection. Collection of what, I ask? Plastic men? But he just shakes his head and tells me I don’t understand.
Sometimes, he lets me hold one. They’re hard, not soft like my old dolls. And they got these funny faces, all serious and angry. I don’t get it, why they gotta look so mad? But the kids, they love it. They think it’s exciting.
I seen these fellas on TV once, when my grandson was watchin’. They jump around in a ring, pretendin’ to fight. It’s all fake, I know, but the kids, they think it’s real. And this Rob Van Dam, he’s one of the favorites. They cheer for him, shout his name. Makes me smile, seein’ them so happy.
My grandson, he’s got a whole bunch of these figures. Lines ’em up on his shelf, like soldiers. Says they’re valuable, gonna be worth a lot someday. I don’t know about that, but if it makes him happy, I guess it’s alright. He takes good care of ’em, dusts ’em off, makes sure they’re standin’ just right.
He even got one in a special box, says it’s rare. Keeps it in a closet, doesn’t let anyone touch it. It’s this Rob Van Dam again, but in different clothes, shiny and bright. Must be special, if he keeps it hidden like that. Kids and their toys, always somethin’ new, somethin’ different.

I remember when toys were simple. A rag doll, a wooden block. But these action figures, they’re somethin’ else. They got muscles and tattoos, funny shorts and serious faces. And the kids, they love ’em. Especially this Rob Van Dam. My grandson, he talks about him all the time.
So, if you got kids, grandkids, they probably know about these WWE action figures. And if you hear ’em shoutin’ about Rob Van Dam, don’t be surprised. He’s one of the big ones, the popular ones. And even though I don’t understand it all, I gotta admit, it’s kinda fun watchin’ the kids get so excited. Makes me remember what it was like to be young, to have a favorite toy, a favorite hero. Even if he’s just a plastic man with tattoos and funny shorts.
