Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of talk online about the Fury vs. Ngannou fight and specifically the scorecard. I decided to dig in and keep track myself, just to see how my scoring compared to the official judges. Here’s how it all went down.
First, I grabbed a pen and a piece of paper – nothing fancy, just something to jot down the rounds. I watched the fight on my, uh, “totally legitimate and not at all suspicious” stream. Gotta love those, right?

The Setup
- Piece of Paper: For keeping score, of course.
- Pen: Blue ink, because why not?
- “Legit” Stream: My window to the boxing world.
I was hyped! I mean, Ngannou, an MMA guy, stepping into the boxing ring with Fury, the heavyweight champ? Crazy! I made some coffee, grabbed some, and settled in. Ready to record.
As the fight started, I was making a mark for each round. I went with the classic 10-point must system – you know, winner gets 10, loser gets 9 or less, depending on how badly they got beat. If it was super close, maybe a 10-10 round, but those are rare.
My paper had two columns FURY and NGANNOU.
The big moment, everyone’s talking about, was that third round. Ngannou actually knocked Fury down! I jumped up, spilled some of my drink, and yelled at the screen. I definitely gave that round to Ngannou, 10-8, no question.
The rest of the fight was a back-and-forth. Some rounds were tough to score, really close. I tried to be objective, but hey, I’m only human. I might have been a little biased towards Ngannou, just because it was such an underdog story.
The Final Tally
When it was all over, I added up my scores. I won’t lie, my heart was pounding a bit. I had it super close! My hand-scribbled scorecard ended up looking a bit messy, with some coffee stains. but the numbers were clear.
Then, I checked the official scores: 95-94 for Ngannou, 96-93 for Fury, and 95-94 for Fury. Man, talk about a split decision! It made me appreciate how tough it is to be a judge in these fights. It all boils down to those few moments in each round.
So, that’s my scorecard story. It was a fun experiment, and it definitely made watching the fight even more engaging. Maybe I’ll try this again for the next big fight!
