Okay, so I’ve been messing around with fantasy football for a while now, and one question that always bugged me was how many kickers to draft. Seriously, it felt like a total crapshoot. So, I decided to actually, you know, track what I was doing and see if I could figure out some kind of strategy.
My Experiment Begins
First, I jumped into a bunch of mock drafts – like, a LOT. I wanted to see what other people were doing, where kickers were generally going, and just get a feel for the overall landscape.

I started by just grabbing one kicker, usually pretty late in the draft. The thinking was, “Hey, they’re kickers. They all score roughly the same, right?” Wrong, so very wrong.
The Data (and the Pain)
- Year 1: One kicker, late-round pick. Result? My team was constantly losing points on the kicking position. It was frustrating! I felt like I was always playing catch-up.
- Year 2: Still one kicker, but I tried to snag one of the “top-tier” guys a little earlier. Slightly better, but still inconsistent. Some weeks were great, others were total duds.
- Year 3: This is where I got a little crazy. I decided to draft TWO kickers. My thought was, I could play the matchups, stream kickers based on who had the better opponent.
Two Kickers? Heresy! (Or Was It?)
I had to do it.
I picked one “reliable” kicker and a second one with perceived a good matchup.
The result? It was a disaster. First, the good kicker was not reliable, second, I wasted a bench spot on a second kicker, limiting my options for other positions.

Conclusion from the experiemnt
So finally,I realized that just pick up one solid kicker, not too late.
And that’s it, folks! My journey through the wild world of fantasy football kickers. It’s been a ride, and I’m still learning, but hopefully, my pain is your gain. Good luck out there!
