Okay, so I got curious about this “A.J. Brown baseball” thing. I’d seen some stuff online and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, it’s not everyday you see a top-tier NFL receiver also having a past in professional baseball.
First, I dug around a bit. I just did a simple search, nothing fancy. I found out pretty quickly that, yeah, A.J. Brown was actually drafted by the San Diego Padres. That was back in 2016, straight out of high school. Wow.

My Little Investigation
Next, I wanted to see if there were any, like, actual stats. You know, to see how he did.
- I poked around on some baseball stats websites.
- I found a few mentions of him playing in the Padres’ minor league system.
- It wasn’t a ton of info. It seems like he played some short-season ball.
- From what I gathered there is not a big amount of detail, so I assumed that he played some short-season ball.
So then, of course, I checked out some videos. You can find almost anything these days, right?
I stumbled across a few clips of him in high school. The guy was a beast! Seriously, he looked like a natural. It’s wild to think he chose football, but, hey, he’s doing pretty alright, I spent hours watching him.
Wrapping Up
So, after all that, what did I actually do? Well, I didn’t exactly play baseball myself. But I definitely satisfied my curiosity. I learned that A.J. Brown was a legitimate baseball prospect, and I got to see some cool footage. And it makes you think, huh? It’s just cool to see how talented some athletes are. I guess he’s happy with his current profession.
It was a fun little dive into something different, I enjoyed and spent time discovering something I didn’t know.
