Alright, guys, gather ’round, let me tell you about this little project I dived into. So, I was chilling the other day, and this question popped into my head: “Who’s the G.O.A.T of boxing?” You know, the greatest of all time. I got curious, and well, one thing led to another, and I found myself down a rabbit hole of boxing history.
First, I started by looking up some names that I could recall, Floyd Mayweather for example. I started to search for his professional records. I found a piece of news that mentioned his record, “Floyd Mayweather 50-0-0. Jun 6, 2021; Miami, Florida”. That is a remarkable record.

Then I found another name, Ray Robinson. Everyone called him “Sugar,” and I found many other guys who seem to be strong, too.
Next, I started digging into what people call “GOAT”. I found a piece of news dated Sep 22, 2022, saying the word “GOAT” came from Muhammad Ali. His wife, Lonnie Ali, said it back in September 1992. It’s crazy how words get popular, right?
But here’s the thing, I was thinking, can we really say someone’s the absolute best in a sport? I mean, everyone has their ups and downs. I found an article that said even in other sports, like swimming, people argue about who the GOAT is.
Then, I went deeper into Muhammad Ali’s life. Found out his real name was Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., born on January 17, 1942, and he passed away on June 3, 2016. He wasn’t just a boxer, he was an activist, too. They called him “The Greatest,” which is pretty cool.
So, after all this digging and reading, what did I find out? Well, picking the one and only GOAT of boxing is tough. Each of these legends had their own style, their own story. Mayweather’s got that crazy record, Ray Robinson’s got that sweet nickname, and Ali, man, he was more than just a boxer. So, who’s the GOAT? Honestly, it’s all up to your own opinion. What I can say for sure is that I got way more into boxing history than I ever thought I would.
