You ask me, does boxing build muscle? Well, let me tell you, I seen a lot in my days. That boxing thing, it sure makes you sweat like a hog in July. My grandson, Timmy, he started that boxing. He’s skinny as a rake, always was. But now? He’s got some meat on his bones, I tell ya.
Punching That Bag
Boxing, it ain’t just about hitting. It’s moving, jumping, all that stuff. Timmy, he’s always punching that big bag. Makes a lot of noise, that bag does. He says it’s good for him. I guess he’s right. He used to be all skin and bones, but now he’s got some muscle, I can see it. Not like those bodybuilder fellas, but it’s there. He says boxing is good for your whole body. Legs, arms, belly, everything. That punching, it works all those muscles, I reckon.

More Than Just Hitting
Timmy says it’s not just the punching. It’s the moving around, the jumping, the… what’s that word? Coordination. Yeah, that’s it. He’s gotta be quick on his feet. Like a rabbit, almost. All that moving, it builds muscle, he says. And he’s eating more now too. Lots of food. Says he needs it for the boxing. Keeps him strong. He eats like a horse now, that boy. Good, I say. Needs to keep his strength up. All that jumping and punching, it takes a lot of energy.
Stronger Than Before
I remember when he first started. He couldn’t even lift that heavy bag. Now he’s throwing it around like it’s nothing. He’s definitely stronger. And faster too. He’s got muscles in his arms now, and his legs. Not big, bulky muscles, but strong ones. Like a farmer’s, I reckon. Good, honest work. That boxing, it’s hard work, I can see that. But it’s good for him. Makes him strong. Does boxing build muscle? It did for him, that’s for sure.
Boxing Workout for Muscle
- Punching the heavy bag. Timmy does this a lot.
- Moving around, jumping, he calls it footwork.
- Something about core. Makes your belly strong, he says.
- Eating more food. Lots more. Gotta keep the energy up.
- Using arms and legs a whole lot. That’s what he does.
Eat Like a Horse
Now, that Timmy, he eats like there’s no tomorrow. Says he needs it for the boxing. Before, he’d just pick at his food. Now? He cleans his plate, and then some. Says boxing makes him hungry. I reckon it does. All that moving around, it burns a lot of energy. He needs to eat to keep his strength up. He’s not losing any muscle, that’s for sure. He’s gaining it. Slowly, maybe, but it’s there. You see, boxing, it takes a lot out of you. But if you eat right, you get stronger. He always make sure eating enough.
Not a Bodybuilder, But Strong
He ain’t gonna be one of those big, muscle-bound fellas you see on TV. Boxing doesn’t do that. But it makes you strong, in a different way. Lean and strong. Like a wildcat, maybe. Quick and strong. That’s what boxing does. It builds that kind of muscle. Not for show, but for work. For moving, for punching, for being quick. It’s a good thing, I think. Good for a young fella like Timmy. Keeps him out of trouble, too. Too busy boxing to get into mischief.
Boxing and Muscles
So, you ask me, does boxing build muscle? Well, I seen it with my own eyes. That boy of mine, Timmy, he’s proof. He’s stronger, faster, got more meat on his bones. It ain’t easy, that boxing. It’s hard work. But it pays off. You just gotta keep at it, and eat plenty. Then you’ll see the muscle, just like Timmy. He’s a good boy, that Timmy. And boxing made him even better. Yeah, it builds muscle alright. Maybe not like lifting those heavy weights, but it builds muscle just the same. Muscle you can use. Good muscle.
My Timmy, he said boxing uses all the muscles in your body. You have to punch, you have to be fast on your feet, and you need to be strong all over. It’s not just about your arms. It’s about your legs, your belly, your back, everything. He said there’s this one muscle, the “boxer’s muscle” or something like that. He also says boxing helps you be stronger, faster and more coordinated. So, I guess boxing really does work your whole body and builds a lot of muscle. It is all full body workout.

If you keep doing boxing, and you eat enough food, you won’t lose muscle. You might even get more muscle. Timmy sure did. He eats a lot now because boxing is a lot of cardio or something like that. You see, boxing will make you eat a lot and that’s important, but you won’t lose any muscle.
