Alright, so I wanted to play some NBA 2K24 with my buddy on my Switch the other day. Figured it’d be a breeze to set up, but it took a bit of fiddling around to get it working right. I’m gonna walk you through how I did it, just in case you run into the same stuff.
First thing I did was I turned on my Switch and fired up NBA 2K24. You gotta make sure you have a second controller, obviously. I grabbed my other Joy-Con and made sure it was charged up. You know, gotta avoid that low-battery drama mid-game.

Getting the Second Controller Ready
- Power On: I pressed the little round button on the side of the second Joy-Con to turn it on. It’s the one you use to sync it.
- Connect to Console: If the controllers were not already paired, I would have gone to the Switch home menu, hit up the “Controllers” option and selected “Change Grip/Order” to pair it up. You should be able to see both controllers registered on that screen.
Starting Up the Game
Once I got the controllers sorted, I went into NBA 2K24. Now, here’s where it gets a little less obvious.
- Main Menu: I navigated to the “Play Now” option on the main menu.
- Quick Play: Then, I selected “Quick Play” because, you know, we just wanted to jump into a game.
Setting Up for Two Players
This is the part where you actually get into the two-player setup.
- Choose Sides: On the team select screen, I noticed a little icon to switch your controller to the left or right, you know to select which team you are going to play with.
- Second Player Joins: I had my buddy press the same button on his controller to join in. Then he moved his controller icon to the opposite side. Basically, you both just need to pick a side—either home or away.
Start the Game
After we both picked our sides, we just picked our teams. We went with the classics, you know, Lakers versus Celtics. And boom, we started the game. It was smooth sailing from there. We were both able to control our players, no problem. Played a few games, and it was a blast.
So yeah, that’s how I got two players going on NBA 2K24 on my Switch. It’s pretty straightforward once you figure out where everything is. Hope this helps you out if you’re trying to do the same!
